Welcome to UCL Tennis! We consist of UCL students and UCL staff who love to play and watch tennis, or enjoy the company of people who do. In order to keep you updated with all our events and competitions we have created a site which provides all of the information you will need. We look forward to seeing you at one or our events. Make sure to add us on all of our social media platforms: Facebook, Twitter and Instagram
At the beginning of the first term, we recommend you do just 4 things!
(1) Follow us on social media: following us on Facebook and Instagram is the best way to keep up to date and make sure you don’t miss any important announcements or events.
(2) Drop by at Fresher’s Fair: (29th Sep – 30th Sep 2018) your first chance to meet the committee and find out what we are planning for the upcoming year.
(3) Attend our Trials : if you are thinking of playing competitively, our trials will be held this year at New River Sports, Tennis and Fitness Centre on Wednesday the 3rd of October 2018 If you’re looking to play for our BUCS or LUSL teams you must attend these trials. If, however, you’re only looking to play socially, please come down anyway and our social coordinators will give you more details about our upcoming social sessions. It will also be the best way to meet other people also joining the society.
(4) Come to our first social: The first social is always a big one. Time, not only to let your hair down and really get to know your follow society members, but to get your first taste of a UCL sports night. Details for the white t shirt social are above.
These are the most important first steps, after which once you know in what capacity you are participating with UCL Tennis, memberships can be bought on the UCLU website.
If, for any reason, you can’t make it to our trials and are still interested to try out for a team, please get in touch with a captain on facebook. They’ll then do their best to place you in one of our teams.
Of course! Our social tennis sessions welcome all levels of tennis.
Unfortunately we can only provide a limited number of racquets: these are distributed on a first-come first-serve basis during sessions. However, if you don't want to buy a brand new racquet, there are often second hand ones that fellow members could be willing to lend/sell to you. The best course of action is to post a question on the UCLU Tennis Society Facebook Page and wait for a response.
Yes! We have a total of seven competitive teams: three Men's teams, two Women's teams, and two Mixed
teams. The competitive season runs during the first and second terms, from October until late

As well as getting together for sports night socials at Student Central every Wednesday, we organise plenty of events outside of our union. Our social secretaries work hard to plan original, interesting days and nights out that add some variety to our weekly routines. For more information please get in touch with our social secretaries through facebook, otherwise, keep yourself up to date with upcoming socials via our Socials & Events Section.
Don’t hesitate to ask any open questions on the UCLU Tennis Society Facebook page, email us, or directly contact anyone from the committee through facebook. Team matters should be directed to the appropriate captain, while social tennis matters should be directed towards the Social President.
